I don’t like to be photographed. Never have. Looking at these photos I can’t help but remember my instinctive self-effacing embarrassment, my quickening pulse, the welling, nervous sweat that threatened to soak my shirt as I took my place at Vek’s mark. But this is secondary to the stunning effect of the photos themselves, and I’m confronted with the moments of real feeling and expression that Vek pushed for during the shoot. He has a clear vision for the shots and possesses a real skill for guiding subjects to those moments. As evidenced by this entire project, Vek’s pursuit of craft is not in vain. I look forward to seeing the work he produces in years to come.
