It started with a text and an attached photo example. I knew this wasn’t going to be my average photo shoot. Vek had an idea he wanted to do, to have paint pouring down my face. I was instantly intrigued. This wasn’t my first time working with paint, I felt completely comfortable being his canvas.

I get to his studio and the atmosphere was relaxed. Vek was finishing last minute adjustments to ensure everything was how he imagined. He’s literally moving 100 miles per hour at this point. I can see him constantly thinking, but he still didn’t forget I was there. Vek is truly such a great person; I was enjoying his company and choice of music.

10 minutes passed “Ready?” and he began to pour the paint on my face. The creative process is experimental and in our case it didn’t turn out as well as we imagined it. If you’re not familiar with body paint it’s super thin and dries very quick, like rubber. Wasting no time the game plan changed. Everything was so natural after that, he coached me the entire way and focused on every little detail. “Pillow”, “basketball” and “breathe” were some of the words he cued. You can tell he is very passionate about every shot leaving no room for mistakes, which was different than what I’m used to. I had a lot of fun being a part of his art and would do it again without hesitation.

Note: Paint got in my eye but luckily we were able to wash it out quickly. Please do not try this at home :)
